*Takazumi Vital contains MacroVital®, the additional and specially developed cocktail of various products to stimulate and activate the Koi’s immune system and develop an optimum defence against infections and parasites. It invigorates your Koi’s resistance, can be safely used the whole year through and is pre-eminently adequate whenever the Koi’s condition is somewhat poorer, for instance after a cure with medication or a transport. (Feeding Vital for 4 to 6 weeks will do in such cases.)

*Takazumi Care Yugen is a bacterial immune-modulator that will result in a fully developed and optimally functioning immune system in young and growing as well as in grown-up Koi in a very short time. Feed Yugen 4 times a year for 5 consecutive days, with intervals of at least 2 months and especially shortly before and shortly after the winter period.

the art of feeding

to begin with...
• The most important pillars for your Koi’s health - beside the blood lines - are nutrition and
water quality
• Quality water is the primary basis for healthy Koi
• Both quantity and composition of the nutrition influence the water quality
• As an additional aid a mechanical or natural filter is indispensable

Nutrition and water quality
Due to their balanced composition all of Takazumi’s seasonal feeds have a very high digestibility of ca 80%, which significantly contributes to clear and healthy pond water and spares the filters. Bear in mind that a Koi needs approximately 3% of its body weight in nutrition daily and do not feed too exuberantly, but focus on what quantity is eaten in 5 to 10 minutes.

Nutrition and seasonal influences
Every season has its influence on the Koi’s feeding behaviour (and thus on the water quality and your Koi’s health). The variable water temperature influences the Koi’s digestion and asks for adaptation of the feed to apply.

In early spring, when the metabolism of the Koi gets going, an easy-to-digest feed is absolutely desirable. After the winter period, when the Koi are often in poor condition, a feed stimulating and activating the immune system, will soon restore their resistibility against bacterial infections and parasitic discomfort. Takazumi Vital is the right feed to swiftly get your Koi as fit as a fiddle then! After that you may gradually shift to the balanced premium basic feed Takazumi Gold Plus as the principal feed.

As soon as, a little later in spring, the water temperatures rise above 10o Celcius shift to Takazumi Mix, that benefits coloration as well as growth, to change to Takazumi High Growth with it’s high protein percentage of 45% in the summer months (growth months). Takazumi High Growth is a power feed that benefits growth and increase of weight.

Starting early September the feeding pattern unwinds in reverse order. From Takazumi High Growth via Takazumi Mix and Takazumi Gold Plus in autumn to resistance raising and low protein Takazumi Vital to enter the winter.

By the way it is non-sense to exclusively take the water temperature for a criterion to stop feeding. It is your Koi’s feeding behaviour that determines whether or not is it useful and desirable to feed (”The Art of Feeding”). Be well aware that as long as the Koi swims it experiences less nuisance from parasites then when lying on the bottom.

When the water temperature recedes you will of course have to adjust the feeding rhythm and quantity. Stop feeding when the temperature falls below 5o Celsius, because this is when the Koi’s digestion almost stops.

Nutrition and health
Takazumi prides itself on thinking highly of Koi health! The continuous quality and feed tests on Koi in the research centre focus on exactly that. The ambition to lift Koi resistibility and health to the maximum realizable level has resulted in the development of Takazumi Care Yugen. Takazumi Care Yugen is a bacterial immune modulator with a matchless effect on the immune systems of both young-and-growing and grown-up Koi.
Just feed Yugen 4 times a year for 5 consecutive days to grant your Koi a fully developed and optimally functioning heavy duty immune system in a very short time (consult the Takazumi Feeding Calendar ‘all through the year’).

Enjoy yourselves with a great hobby and healthy Koi!
